Ten easy steps.
1. Tell yourself that you deserve better. You won't believe it for a second, but you need to start somewhere, and every little bit helps. Progress is progress, after all.
2. Listen to every song about loss and heartbreak and self-pity until you're able to laugh about how silly they all are. Therapists call this habitualization; I call it my way to find humor in self-destruction.
3. Admit to the people you care about that you're not feeling like yourself, and cut out the ones who can't find a few minutes to show a little concern.
